Local News | Mare de Déu de Loreto 2026: Jávea Port Gets Ready to Celebrate

Every year at the end of summer, Jávea Port comes alive for the Festes de la Mare de Déu de Loreto, one of the town’s most traditional and eagerly anticipated celebrations.

Taking place in Duanes de la Mar, the fiestas bring together music, street parties, religious traditions, activities for children, Bous a la Mar, colourful processions and an impressive firework finale over the Mediterranean.

The main celebrations for 2026 take place from 29 August to 8 September, with a number of events and activities also taking place in the weeks beforehand.

Saturday 29 August: Official Opening of the Fiestas

The main festivities officially get underway on Saturday 29 August.

At 22:30, the Mayorales and Mayoralesas of 2026 will be presented on Avenida Lepanto, officially marking the beginning of this year’s celebrations.

The evening will then continue with live music from Orquesta La Pato until 05:00.

31 August to 4 September: Bous a la Mar

One of the best known traditions of the Loreto fiestas returns on Monday 31 August, when the first Bous a la Mar takes place at midday in the Port of Jávea.

The opening day also sees the return of the famous Baret dels Bous, which becomes one of the busiest meeting places in the Port during the fiestas.

Bous a la Mar sessions continue throughout the week, with events taking place at 12:00 and 19:00, before the Baret closes for the season following the final session on Friday 4 September.

Saturday 5 September: Children’s Day and the Grand Parade

Saturday is dedicated to the younger members of the community, with a full morning of activities including traditional games, a water party, foam party and a large children’s activity park on Avenida Jaime I.

One of the biggest events of the entire fiesta takes place at 19:30, when the Gran Cabalgata de Carrozas fills the streets of Jávea Port with colourful floats, music, fiesta representatives and the Peñas Marineras.

The celebrations continue at 23:30 with Orquesta Vértigo on Paseo Pintor Joaquín Sorolla.

Sunday 6 September: Flower Offering

Another of the most traditional events takes place on Sunday 6 September.

At 19:30, residents, local fiestas, associations and Peñas are invited to participate in the Ofrenda de Flores a la Mare de Déu de Loreto, a beautiful flower offering that travels through Duanes de la Mar.

Later that evening, the traditional Noche de Ronda begins at 23:00.

Monday 7 September: Santíssim Crist de la Mar

Monday is dedicated to the Santíssim Crist de la Mar.

A special Eucharist takes place at 19:00, followed by the solemn procession through the streets of Duanes.

At midnight, the atmosphere changes completely with the Albà de la Mare de Déu de Loreto, followed by El Foc de la Mar, a spectacular correfoc by Xarxa Teatre featuring fire, music and Mediterranean inspired performances through the streets of Jávea Port.

Tuesday 8 September: Mare de Déu de Loreto Day

The biggest day of the fiestas is Tuesday 8 September, dedicated to the Mare de Déu de Loreto.

At 12:00, a solemn Eucharist will be held in her honour, followed by a pasacalle and a traditional mascletà on Paseo Jaime I.

At 20:00, the solemn procession of the Mare de Déu de Loreto will make its way through the streets of Duanes de la Mar.

The evening continues with music from Orquesta Titanic at 22:30 before one of Jávea’s most spectacular annual events.

At 00:30, the Castillo de Fuegos Artificiales Acuático will light up the bay, with fireworks launched over the Mediterranean to bring the 2026 fiestas to a spectacular close.
