Local News | My Favourite Walks Within an Hour of Jávea
Oliva Beach – 8km
The beach stretches around 8-10 kms I only walk 4km one way and 4km back, but you can go further if you wish. Close to the sea there is always a section of hard sand, it´s great to walk in bare feet, every so often a wave laps at your feet. I park near Oliva Nova Golf/Eurocamping and walk 4km to the lovely café Mandala and then walk back.
Here is the starting point - 38°54'16.4"N 0°03'55.5"W – You will see a bridge to take you over the sand dunes to the beach.
Keep walking for around 4km and you will find Mandala. Stop for a coffee and snack, then return back along the beach.
Guadalest Reservoir – 10km
Most people visit the town of Guadalest and look down at the reservoir, but you can actually walk around it.
There is a carpark by the dam, when leaving the car walk across the dam and follow the road, for a pit stop head to the village of Beniardà and the Bar l'era. It´s a very steep hill up to the village.
After you are suitable refreshed you can walk on the other side of the lake back to your car.
Altea to Albir and back. 8km – 12km (depending on route)
There is a promenade that stretches from Altea to Albir, I like to walk along the promenade from Altea, then on the way back, once you reach the marina at Altea, cut inland and walk back to the car through the old town, depending on how fit I am feeling, I either skirt around the bottom or do the full walk up the hill to the church.
I like to park here and walk through the nature reserve to the beach.
