What is a Nomad Visa?
The nomad visa is a new document required by foreigners planning to live in Spain full time as a resident. It is required if you wish to work remotely using telecommunication media and systems for a company or an employer outside of Spain.
If the applicant is self-employed, they are entitled to work for a company in Spain if it doesn’t exceed 20% of the amount of the professional occupation. The applicant must have at least 3 years’ experience or a registered qualification in the field of activity.
It is important to know that the applicant must apply for a NIE prior to the visa and that the following family members should obtain the visa:
- The spouse or partner
- Dependent children
- Dependent relatives
Documents required to apply for the Nomad Visa
- Passport size photos
- Valid passport (valid for at least a year)
- Criminal record certificate (can’t be older than six months)
- Proof of residence in the consular district
- Proof of the representative identity and capacity
- Payment of the visa fee (must be paid in local currency)
- Health insurance (public or private)
Requirements for international workers
- Certification of working for at least 3 months for a foreign company
- Certificate issued by the Government Companies House
- Documentary proof of financial means (Can be proved with work contract, bank statement or payslips)
In the case of family member:
- First family member must prove they earn 75% of Spanish minimum wage.
- For each additional family member, they much prove they earn 25% of Spanish minimum wage.
- Copy of professional certificate or university degree
Specific requirements for family members
- Documents proving family relationship with the worker. Birth or marriage certificate or certificate of registration as an unmarried couple issued by the civil registry.
- Dependant adult will need proof of financial dependency and civil status.
- Relatives in the ascending line will need documents proving they are in investors care.
All documentation must be legalised and apostilled. It is important to ensure all documentation is officially translated into Spanish.
