Local News | Summer Activities to Enjoy in Javea
Make the most of the season by the sea
Javea is a brilliant place to spend the summer, with something for everyone. Whether you’re visiting for a week or staying long term, here are some easy ways to enjoy the warmer months.
1. Spend a Day at the Beach
The Arenal beach is ideal for families, with soft sand, shallow water and plenty of cafés and restaurants close by. For something different, head to Granadella or La Barraca – both scenic coves with clear water, great snorkelling and water sports.
2. Try Some Water Sports
Javea’s calm coastline is perfect for paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkelling. You’ll also find options for jet ski hire, boat trips and even guided tours to nearby caves and beaches.
3. Enjoy an Evening Walk and Dinner
Warm evenings are made for a stroll along the promenade or the marina. There’s no shortage of places to eat – from traditional tapas bars to modern restaurants and beachside cocktails.
4. Join the Local and International Fiestas
Javea’s summer calendar is full of local traditions, including the San Juan bonfires in June and the Moors and Christians parades in July. There's also the popular International Festival held from the 4th – 6th of July, where different national communities come together to share their food, music, and culture. It’s a lively, welcoming event that reflects Javea’s multicultural feel.
5. Explore by Boat
Hire a boat or join a sunset cruise to enjoy the coastline from the water. It’s a relaxing way to take in the sea views and discover hidden coves only accessible by boat.
6. Visit the Markets
Throughout the summer, there are evening markets and artisan stalls in the Old Town and along the beach promenade. They’re great for picking up handmade items, gifts, or simply browsing while enjoying an ice cream.
