Local News | Countdown begins for Moros y Cristianos Festival in Javea
The popular Moros y Cristianos Festival returns to Javea from Saturday 12th to Sunday 20th July 2025. The port of Jávea will come alive with parades, traditional music, and historic reenactments.
Now in its 47th year, this festival commemorates the battles between Moors and Christians, honouring Javea's maritime heritage and history.
Festival highlights
The festivities begin with the presentation of the festival programme (Llibre Fester), led by this year’s hosts, the Filà Pirates de Sant Jaume. This starts a week of events for all ages.
Visitors can enjoy daytime parades with local comparsas and brass bands, as well as historical reenactments, including the Moorish landing at Playa de la Grava and the "Alardo" battle.
The Gala Parade is a highlight, featuring costumes, music, and the energy of both Moorish and Christian groups. The festival ends with a fireworks display over the Mediterranean.
